Currently, in real life (as they say) we are going through our stuff and preparing to move. The packing and culling and preparing for a fresh start are leaking over into my online presence too. So I’ve been going through my archives of post drafts and I think I’m going to give some of them a quick finish and hit publish. Some are years old, but I don’t want to send them to the digital trash can. So, if in the next few weeks you see a post featuring baby Catherine or a life stage I’m far past, you’ll know where it came from.
I’ve thought about just letting the blog die, but I’ve decided I should keep it going for a few reasons. The main one being that I like it. The irony is that I don’t actually like to write or have aspirations of becoming a writer but I am an external processor, meaning that the act of writing helps me think through and organize my thoughts.
I also like blogging because it forces me to think about grammar, spelling, and sentence structure in a way other social media doesn’t. One of my fears is losing the ability to write well in this digital world and I know being out of academia, I have already lost some of it.
Lastly, I know this digital world is here to stay and I think sharing my thoughts in an authentic way on the internet is an important witness today.
So, all of that to say, the blog is still here. I’m glad you’re still here too. 🙂
