A year ago today, we were boarding a cruise ship headed to the Bahamas, enjoying our first 24 hours as husband and wife. Recently, I have reflected on how opposite this summer has been, or just how opposite today is.

We left for one of the most relaxing vacations I can remember following one of the busiest summers in recent memory. I was interning as the youth and college minister at my home church, planning our wedding, and taking a seminary class online.

We head into what we expect to be one of the busiest seasons of our life after the most relaxing summer in recent memory. We moved out to Pikeville at the beginning of June and had six weeks where Andy didn’t have anything to do and I was still unemployed. We got to spend almost every moment of it together and it was wonderful. Andy is starting med school while I’m working full-time (for the first time in my life – Praise the Lord!). On top of that, I’ll be working on finishing up my master’s by taking online classes for the next year and a half.
On both days we’ve started new chapters, but this year I have very different expectations about the relaxation level of the week to come! 🙂
Much Love,
Sarah
Stopping by from MM! It seems you both are on quite the journey. My husband is a PGY-2 with 2 more years of residency remaining! There were definite highs & lows of school, but it was well worth it in the end … I sometimes think residency isn’t as bad as school 🙂
I stopped by from medical mondays. My husband is in his 3rd year and I just started my masters online and I work full-time. Your time might be full of study dates but enjoy the time you have together. You can do it!
My husband and I also had a little bit of free time together before he started medical school – we still say it was one of the best times of our life! Love your banner and the pictures; your husband is so lucky to have your support through this crazy journey of medicine 😉
Popping over from Medical Mondays. Hi, Happy Anniversary, and welcome to the wonderful world of medicine! We’re in OMS4 and can’t believe how quickly it has flown by!
Sounds like quite the journey!!!! Can’t wait to see how it unfolds. 🙂
Visiting from MM,
Abigail
